Us is David Eadie, an adventurer who retired to Saint John at the end of his career as a Canadian Naval Officer in 2007. After meeting his early retirement goals for skiing and sailboat racing David found himself in the parks of the Canadian Rockies a good portion of the year. Not surprising to his friends, he planned a path preparing for his later years via the Adventure Tourism Business Operations and Tourism Management programs at the College of the Rockies in Golden and Cranbrook BC. He graduated with a diploma in Tourism Management in 2023 at the age of 65. He is a qualified Interpretation Specialist with the Interpretation Guide Association.
As much as David enjoyed the western mountains and travelling he knew that he wanted to return to the places he had enjoyed so much in his early days of retirement; the Fundy Coast, the City of Saint John, Southern New Brunswick and the state of Maine. He returned to New Brunswick bringing with him his new tourism and guiding skills to do what he had learned he really enjoyed; sharing the beauty of his country and the outdoors, and its history and culture.
For the fortunate, age eventually catches up with us and for David this came with the requirement for double hip replacement in 2019. It made getting ready for the Adventure Tourism program in the Fall of that year a challenge, but not impossible, however he had to admit that there were some activities that he would not likely do again. Bicycling was one of them, until he rented two e-bikes for a day excursion with his son to Johnston Canyon in Banff National Park.
The day would be a significant event in his life and from that point on in 2020 he was hooked on e-bikes and their benefits and the opportunities they presented him and others going ahead. David returned to Saint John during the pandemic and purchased his first e-bike, but returned to British Columbia for two more years to complete his tourism studies and to develop what you see here today, his sustainable adventure tourism business, that lets him share his love of the Maritimes in the summer and fall and allows him to ski the Rockies, New England and Quebec in the winter.
For our cruise ship visitors, David knows from experience how difficult it can be to visit new ports of call with only a few hours available and he has designed his two hour harbour and city tour never forgetting that. Frequently visitors can learn more about a new city just by travelling down the right lane or side street, or stopping at the perfect viewpoint that opens the city below, than the traditional tour bus slowly moving along the main routes of the city. With appropriate stops along the route, guests have the opportunity to ask questions of someone that loves to talk about his city of choice and his experiences there.
Getting the e-bike in Saint John showed him that there had been so much in the city he had missed while travelling by car along the same routes for years. There is so much of the city that is missed when you travel that way. For locals that have more time available to them, we offer two weekly group tours in four weeks sessions during the summer that is often an eye opener to many that have lived in Saint John all their lives. Whether an evening ride or a morning ride, the two hour rides cover most neighbourhoods of the city and the two main parks. Bikes are delivered to appropriate trailheads when required.
David deliberately keeps his scheduled programmed events light during the summer in order to advance his favourite offering that he calls "what would you do with six ebikes, a van, and a trailer, and who would you take" project. From group rides, family events, workplace team building, overnight camping trips, weeklong bike tours, and trips to hard to reach locations, David looks forward to helping with your adventure ride. That is who David is and David is US.
We hope that you will be able to join US.
